So what’s up with a name like Salt & Light?  What does that have to do with nutrition and healthy living?  Well, a lot.

Jesus told us we are to be the “salt of the earth … and the light of the world” as recorded in the Gospel of Matthew. As His followers we are to interact with others with honesty and grace, while also being direct and setting out the truth.  I happen to believe it also means to bring flavor and interest when sharing with others and in all aspects of our lives.  There is a ton of confusing and conflicting information in the weight loss world.  There are a ton of quick fixes and even lies that fall short of the promises for health.  Getting through that ‘noise’ to the truth about good nutrition is an essential first step toward success.

As for ‘light’ – we know that Jesus is the light of the world, but moreover,  He tells us all to let our light shine before others. Whenever possible, we are to share our blessings with others and this includes our experiences and failures as well as our successes, so that others can prosper.   Light is also a form of power – power brings self control and determination.  And, with such power and illumination comes understanding, enlightened thinking and hope.  Salt & Light – two simple, but powerful words that we can employ in a daily healthy life.

When considering making changes for your health with regard to better nutrition, you may feel like you face a mountain of challenges and don’t know where to begin.  But, getting healthy is about so much more than appearance on the outside.  Getting healthy, really healthy, is an inside-out approach.  We need to work on the inside to fully understand how our bodies are working, where we struggle, and how our attitude about food (and emotions and stress)  can impact our digestion, our metabolism, our energy and mood, our cravings, and ultimately our body composition and weight.  Without a doubt, carrying around extra pounds is a health risk.  We know we need to lose the weight – not for vanity – but for living out the God-Given purpose we were born to follow and for living life to its fullest.

Wishing you many blessings and for finding the Flavor and Power to change your life!
